Western Siberia Completes Technical Upgrading of Oil Trunk Pipelines’ Telemetry Systems

Technical upgrading of telemetry systems at the Anzhero-Sudzhensk – Krasnoyarsk and the Omsk – Irkutsk oil trunk pipelines within the area of responsibility of Novosibirsk Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (a branch of Transneft Western Siberia) has been accomplished.

According to the project specification, 17 control and monitoring stations were replaced within the area of responsibility of Mariinsk oil pumping station (PS).

Specialists performed technical upgrading of nine stop valve units and pipeline clean-up and inspection gadget traps (PIG traps) as part of revamping of the telemetry system within the area of responsibility of Anzhero-Sudzhensk line operation dispatcher station (LODS).

Telemetry cabinets were replaced, and the supervisory control and data acquisition system was enhanced at Novosibirsk district control centre. Telemetry systems were introduced at line facilities of the Anzhero-Sudzhensk – Krasnoyarsk and the Omsk – Irkutsk oil trunk pipelines as required by Transneft’s technical rules and regulations.

The current telemetry equipment allows for collection and processing of information provided by primary sensors, generation of monitoring and control signals in accordance with predetermined patterns and receipt and transfer of information via serial communication links.

Technical upgrading of oil trunk pipelines within the area of responsibility of Transneft Western Siberia’s operational facilities was performed with a view to increase the reliability of the oil pipeline during its further operation and to minimise potential emergency risks.
