Transneft Western Siberia Reviews 2017 Energy Saving Programme

Date of publication: 09 February 2018 Print

Transneft Western Siberia has reviewed the results of measures taken under the 2017 Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement Programme. The Company managed to save some RUB 9.7 million.

The biggest share in the yearly energy saving indicators belongs to optimised processes of crude oil and petroleum products transportation with a total of RUB 6.1 million saved. The optimisation included adjustment of transportation process modes and regular cleaning of pipeline inner surfaces and mud-trap filters from asphaltic resinous and paraffin deposits. Deposits on the inner surfaces of oil trunk pipelines boost the energy demands for oil and petroleum products transportation due to a pipe’s reduced inner diameter.

The optimised transportation routes, reduced inefficient runs and improved traffic discipline helped Transneft Western Siberia save nearly RUB 2.3 million. In physical terms, the indicator amounted to 1,836 tons of fuel equivalent.

Other measures with the most significant cost impact included replacement of electric motors for equipment with higher efficiency at the Kashtan pumping station (PS) of Novosibirsk Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD), at Rybinskaya line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of Krasnoyarsk RPD, at the Abatskaya PS of Ishim RPD. All in all, 5 electric motors were replaced.

Apart from that, the measures included overhaul of the production, administrative and amenity premises, installation of an indoor automated temperature mode control system, adoption of a standby heating mode at 10 facilities of Ishim, Omsk, and Krasnoyarsk RPD.

In 2018, Transneft Western Siberia will continue lowering its energy costs. It is planned to replace motors at 4 of the Company’s facilities. Drainage cables with the total length of 2.5 km will be replaced and new types of anode grounding conductors will be introduced within the scope of the Technical Upgrading, Revamping and Overhaul Programme. The Company will continue upgrading its lighting systems – installation of 2017 LED lamps has been scheduled.
